"Cherish the Thought" by Natalie Earheart
“I looked at this piece of sycamore for what felt like forever before I started. I couldn't figure it out. The rings stood out. I liked the shape. The ridges from the cuts were cool.
Then I thought about nature and how valuable it is. I thought about the sycamore tree being cut down. What would have happened if gold started spilling out of it?
The bright, gold paint and shiny top coat says, look at this tree. Look at how beautiful it is. It is regal. It is a treasure. But even if everything I added was stripped away, this would all still be true.”
